With all that has been going on socially, nationally and globally lately, it seems like some sort of reset should be required just to stabilize us all.
In a lot of ways though, course correcting through all of the craziness can be as easy as breaking down each lived moment as they come. Honestly, taking the weeks of this new year one day at a time has become utterly therapeutic. Not only does it lend to thoughts of mindfulness, but it also helps to determine all of the simple things that work together to make the events in our lives so worth it.
Great and small, after carefully contemplating my days, a couple of things stood out about my weekend. And despite what you may be going through, here’s hoping that this rumination can help you to appreciate the days that you’ve been blessed with as well.
- Waking up according to my own circadian rhythm. With nothing to do and no place to be, the ability to awaken to a new day with fresh reflections and renewed purpose was a blessing.
- Getting Clear. Designating the day for a sunrise to sunset fast was necessary to get clarity and to hear from God.
- #4ABlackGirl Magic. Simply put, taking my (borderline dirty) hair down from last night’s pineapple to find that my Day 8 wash and go was not only still curly, but also big and bouncy enough to save me from suffering through a LONG wash day process was a pleasant surprise.
- Absence and Fond Hearts. Despite sheltering at home and the long distance, FaceTime and Zoom has made family bible studies so much more fun, thought-provoking and engaging.
- Investing for Success. Having never been able to master juicy, yet crispy fried chicken, my investment in a Ninja Foodie XL allowed for the most succulent air fried drumsticks for tonight’s dinner.
See? Fleshing out the experiences of your day is the therapy you didn’t know you needed.
Take a deep breath. Now, you try.
